Bees' rally not enough in loss at Tucson

The Salt Lake Bees fell behind seven runs by the bottom of the third inning, and their late rally fell short in a 10-7 loss at the Tucson Padres on Wednesday night in PCL play.

The Padres (4-9) chased Bees pitcher A.J. Schugel after three innings, racking up 11 hits and nine runs. Jeremy Berg, Mitch Stetter and David Carpenter combined to throw a three-hitter in the last seven innings for the Bees (10-4).

Efren Navarro had three RBIs, Roberto Lopez went 3-for-5 and Jimmy Swift was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.

The Bees scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and had just as many hits (14) at Tucson.
