Kylee Colvin scattered six hits in a complete-game victory and Rudi Barrios went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI as the Weber State softball team snapped a nine-game losing streak by beating Utah 6-1 in Game 2 of Wednesday's nonconference doubleheader at the Utah Softball Stadium.

The Wildcats (7-30) went ahead 2-0 in the third inning and increased their lead to 4-0 in the sixth, when they chased Utah pitcher Mariah Ramirez, who allowed 13 hits and six runs in 52⁄3 innings.

Kristen Stewart hit a home run in the fourth innings for Utah (17-21-1).

Earlier in the day, Utah scored six runs in the first inning en route to an 11-2 win over Weber State in five innings. Jackie Sweet was 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, Chalese Fankhauser blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and Marissa Mendenhall hit a solo home run in the third for the Utes.

BYU 5, Utah State 0 • In Logan, Madisen Robb hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Cougars win their 11th straight game.

Hannah Howell, Tori Almond and Caroline Umphlett combined to pitch a five-hitter for BYU (17-20). Utah State's Mandy Harmon also pitched a five-hitter, but allowed a run in the third inning and four more in the fifth.

Christine Thomsen was 2 for 3 for the Aggies (8-30).

Idaho State 8, Utah Valley 6 • In Orem, the Bengals scored five runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Wolverines in a nonconference game.

Jazmyne Cortinas was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Krystin Jachim went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for UVU.

Women's golf

Lea Garner shot 2-over 74 to finish in a tie for eighth, leading BYU to a fourth-place finish at the 19-team Wyoming Classic. Boise State won the team title at plus-37. The Cougars finished at plus-72 and Utah Valley tied for 11th (plus-90).
