Provo • Adam Law hit BYU's third straight double during a six-run eighth inning as the Cougars defeated West Coast Conference-leading Pepperdine 8-3 on Thursday in college baseball.

Jarrett Jarvis was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jacob Hannemann went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for BYU (12-13, 1-3 WCC). Desmond Poulson allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings, while reliever Derek Speigner allowed no hits in the final two innings.

Arizona 4, Utah 3 • Kody Davis was 2-for-3 with two runs as the Utes led 2-0 after three innings, but the Wildcats rallied and scored the winning run in the seventh for their first Pac-12 win of the season in Tucson, Ariz.

Tyler Relf and Trey Nielsen each had an RBI for Utah (12-11, 2-5), which continues its series at Arizona on Friday and Saturday.

Men's volleyball

BYU 3, Pepperdine 1 • In Provo, Taylor Sander smashed 17 kills, Ben Patch had 13 and Josue Rivera tallied 10 to lead the No. 1 Cougars to their 10th straight victory in a 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18 win.

BYU (18-3, 17-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) hit .468 for the match while racking up 53 kills with just nine attack errors.

Softball

Arizona 6, Utah 4 • Chalese Fankhauser was 3-for-3 with an RBI, but the Utes (13-15-1, 0-4) fell short in their Pac-12 Conference home opener.
