The host Stanford baseball team beat Utah 6-4 Friday, keeping the Utes winless in Pac-12 play this season.

Dallas Carroll had two hits and two RBIs for Utah (9-10, 0-4).

Utah starter Mitch Watrous (1-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on nine hits over five innings.

Stanford's Mark Appel (3-2) recorded 11 strikeouts over eight innings. BYU baseball • The Cougars' game against Kansas on Friday in Provo was postponed due to weather, and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

SLCC 7-11, College of Southern Idaho 5-1 • In American Fork, Salt Lake Community College starter Rhett Parkinson won the first game while recording seven strikeouts and allowing two runs in six innings, and Brady Corless pitched a complete game with four strikeouts to earn the Game 2 victory as the Bruins (21-9, 15-5 SWAC) extended their winning streak to eight games.

Softball

California 6, Utah 0 • In Berkeley, Calif., the Utes had only three hits, including two singles by left fielder Katie Dickman, as they lost their Pac-12 opener. Cal (24-3, 1-0 Pac-12) scored all of its runs in the sixth inning, chasing Utah starter Mariah Ramirez (4-4), who took the loss. Utah fell to 13-10 and 0-1.

BYU 9-2, San Diego 1-1 • Alexandra Hudson Shamo ripped three hits in the opener, and Katie Manuma had an RBI double in the first inning of Game 2 as the Cougars (12-15) opened West Coast Conference play with a doubleheader sweep.

Men's volleyball

BYU 3, CSU Northridge • Ben Patch notched 18 kills and Taylor Sander added 16 as the No. 1-ranked Cougars beat the No. 9 Matadors 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.
