State colleges: Utah baseball earns 1st Pac-12 win of season

In Palo Alto, Calif., the Utah baseball team beat Stanford 3-2 on Trey Nielsen's RBI double in the 10th inning, picking up its first Pac-12 win of the season.

BYU 6, Kansas 3 • Jaycob Brugman led the Cougars with four RBIs in their win in Provo.

SLCC 2-5, College of Southern Idaho 8-2 • The Bruins split their SWAC series in Salt Lake City.


California 9, Utah 4 • The Utes fell in Berkeley, Calif., as the Golden Bears poured in seven runs in the first frame.

BYU 5-3, San Diego 0-0 • The Cougars earned two shutouts on Saturday in San Diego and improved to 4-0 in conference action.

North Dakota 11, Weber State 4 • The Wildcats poured in 10 hits, but five errors and nine stranded base runners doomed them in Ogden.

San Jose State 8-4, Utah State 0-1 • The Aggies lost both games of their doubleheader in San Jose, Calif., in the WAC opening weekend.

Utah Valley 1-3, Saint Mary's 5-1 • The Wolverines split their doubleheader in Moraga, Calif.

SLCC 8-5, Colorado Northwestern 0-1 • The Bruins swept their conference weekend series at home.

Women's tennis

Santa Clara 5, BYU 2 • The Cougars lost their second straight match on the road.

UT Arlington 5, Utah State 2 • The Aggies fell on the road in their first conference match.

Men's tennis

Utah State 6, Lamar 1 • The Aggies improved to 4-1 at home.


Utah State finished fourth at the WAC Championships with a season-high 195.100 in Cedar City.

Southern Utah placed fifth with a 194.925.
