Utah Jazz: Jazz lose 90-83 to the Knicks

Gordon Hayward scored nine points and the Utah Jazz rallied for a 44-42 halftime lead over the New York Knicks on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Jazz started slowly against the Knicks, who were playing without injured starters Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler.

New York made its first two shots — including a pair of 3-pointers — and gradually built a 17-12 lead.

The Jazz’s best early stretch started when Hayward drilled a 3-pointer, which triggered an 8-2 run.

The Knicks took a 23-21 lead into a poorly played second quarter.

Jason Kidd’s 3-pointer with 6:40 left in the half gave New York a 30-27 lead. Then, the Knicks extended their advantage to 42-36 when Iman Shumpert hit consecutive three-pointers and Chris Copeland drove past Al Jefferson for a layup.

In the final 1:33, however, Utah converted its final four possessions and took a two-point lead on Mo Williams’ jumper at the buzzer.
