Frankfurt, Ky. • The cold shooting of the Westminster women’s basketball team continued Saturday, but this time the Griffins could not make up the difference from the outside.

The Griffins went scoreless in the final 1:21 of the NAIA Women’s Division I Basketball Championships, eventually losing 39-36 to No. 1 seed Westmont (Calif.) in the quarterfinals.

Nicole Yazzie missed a potential tying 3-point basket at the buzzer.

Second-seeded Westminster (29-4) shot 32 percent, making only 15 field goals, the same as the day before. But unlike Friday, the Griffins converted only 2 of 14 attempts from the 3-point line.

Westmont (28-4) also shot poorly: 33 percent. The difference was one more 3-pointer made. Kelsi Wells led the Griffins with 16 points, including 7 of 14 field goals.
