Doug Knuth, who has served as Utah's Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations for the last six years, appears to be Nevada's next athletic director. Nevada president Marc Johnson made the recommendation that Knuth be hired over Washington State's John W. Johnson and SMU's Tim Leonard. Nevada's Board of Regents will vote Thursday on the decision. The 40-year-old Knuth joined the Utes in 2005 as Director of Development and was promoted to his current position in the Fall of 2008. Knuth's primary responsibilities have been to oversee fundraising, marketing and scholarship support. He also oversees women's basketball and men's and women's tennis. Prior to joining the Utes, Knuth held positions at Michigan State, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Ohio University. Knuth received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Connecticut, where he also was a 4-year letter winner and captain of the tennis team.
