State colleges: SUU basketball ends regular season with a loss

Jamal Webb had 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals on Saturday and North Dakota won its regular-season finale, defeating Southern Utah men’s basketball team 68-61 in Grand Forks, N.D.

A.J. Hess had 16 points to lead the Thunderbirds (11-19, 8-12), who have lost seven Big Sky games in a row — their last win came against Cal State Northridge on Feb. 23 in a nonconference game. Damon Heuir scored 12 and Cal Hanks had 10 points for Southern Utah.

Women’s basketball

Utah State 73, Texas State 56 • The Aggies routed Texas State in San Marcos, Texas, led by senior Devyn Christensen, who scored 24 points in just 15 minutes.

Eastern Washington 70, Weber State 53 • The Wildcats lost their season finale in Cheney, Wash., falling to 0-20 in the Big Sky and 0-29 overall.

SUU 95, North Dakota 94 (2OT) • The Thunderbirds eked out a win in Cedar City.
