Cedar City • Christian Moon scored 17 points and Antonio Biglow gave Montana State its only lead of the game with about a minute remaining as the Bobcats defeated Southern Utah 62-61 Thursday night.

Biglow scored on a layup with 1:11 left to put Montana State ahead for the first time, and the Bobcats (11-15, 8-9 Big Sky) held on to snap a five-game losing streak.

Paul Egwuonwu added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Montana State. Xavier Blount had 13 points and Biglow finished with 10 points and seven assists.

Jackson Stevenett scored 19 points and Jayson Cheesman had 11 for Southern Utah (11-16, 8-9), which led by as many as nine points in the first half. The Thunderbirds outshot the Bobcats (46 percent to 36 percent) but were outrebounded 41-31 and committed 14 turnovers to just eight for Montana State.

Women's basketball

Utah State 70, Louisiana Tech 56 • In Logan, Jennifer Schlott had 19 points, six steals and four assists as the Aggies won for the ninth time in 10 games in Western Athletic Conference play. Devyn Christensen had 16 points and six assists, and Jenna Johnson tallied 13 points and seven rebounds for Utah State (15-11, 12-3), which is second behind Seattle in the WAC.

Loyola Marymount 68, BYU 55 • The Cougars scored just one basket during an eight-minute stretch midway through the second half and missed 8 of their 9 shots in the final five minutes of the game during a West Coast Conference game in Los Angeles.

Stephanie Seaborn scored a team-high 16 points for BYU (19-9, 10-5).

SLCC 79, Colorado Northwestern 41 • Summer Yack and Rachel Morris each scored 14 points to lead Salt Lake Community College to victory in Region 18 Championships in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The 18th-ranked Bruins, who led 42-16 at halftime, advance to face North Idaho College at noon Friday in the semifinals.

Sacramento State 63, Weber State 57 • The Wildcats set a Big Sky Conference record by losing their 45th consecutive game. Kalie Matthews scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for Weber State (0-27), which hasn't won since Dec. 10, 2011.

Softball

San Diego State 9, BYU 1 (5 innings) • The Aztecs scored four runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth to hand the Cougars their third straight loss Thursday during the San Diego Classic. Marissa Bravo was 2-for-3 and Coryn Tauali'i had an RBI for BYU (5-11).
