Real Salt Lake has traded the rights to midfielder Jonny Steele to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a supplemental draft pick.
RSL declined to pick up an option on Steele at the end of last season, but the team still held his MLS first rights of refusal. On Wednesday, New York shipped a 2nd round 2014 supplemental draft pick to Salt Lake in exchange for those rights.

"Jonny is a player who our coaching staff is very familiar with and believe will provide depth in our midfield," Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh said in a team release announcing Steele’s siging Wednesday.
Steele, 27, joins Jamison Olave and Fabian Espindola as members of the 2012 RSL team now playing for New York.
Steele played in 28 regular season games last season, his only with RSL. He scored two goals and notched two assists.
