State colleges: Coach Dick Hunsaker gets 200th win at Utah Valley

Zach Jones scored 18 points and Nick Thompson had 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead Utah Valley to a 73-43 nonconference men’s basketball victory over Pacific Union on Monday in Orem, giving coach Dick Hunsaker his 200th win in 11 seasons at UVU.

Ben Aird chipped in 12 points for the Wolverines (13-14), who outscored the Pioneers 44-2 in the paint.

Marcus Carter scored 13 to lead Pacific Union, which plays in NAIA Division II.

Men’s golf

Utah State’s Tanner Higham moved into a tie for 13th place at 148 after shooting a 1-over 73 on Monday in the second round of the Folino Invitational in City of Industry, Calif. Utah State sat in eighth place among nine teams.
