The Utah baseball team won its season opener, topping Loyola Marymount 6-3 in Los Angeles. TJ Bennett homered in his first career at-bat for the Utes and ended with two runs scored and three RBIs for the Utes. Loyola Marymount was held scoreless until the seventh inning.

BYU 9-4, Northern Colorado 0-6 • The Cougars shut out the Bears in their first contest before falling in game two of their doubleheader in Lubbock, Texas.

Dixie State 13, Chinese National Team 2 • The Red Storm had 17 hits in their win in Peoria, Ariz.

Utah Valley 6, Gonzaga 2 • The Wolverines had three runs in the fourth inning to down the Zags in Palm Springs, Calif.

Oregon State 5, Utah Valley 2 • UVU gave up a 2-0 lead in the loss.

Salt Lake Community College 14, Okanagan 1 • The Bruins dominated with 12 hits in their first game in Henderson, Nev.

SLCC 10, Prairie Academy 8 • Freshman Connor Williams was 3 for 3 with two triples.

Softball

Idaho State 9, Utah 8 • The Utes were edged in their first game of the day in Las Vegas despite a 3-for-4 performance with four RBIs from Kelsi Hoopiianina.

Seattle 10, Utah 0 • The Utes lost in five innings in their second game as the Red Hawks had back-to-back three-run innings and four runs in the third.

Oregon State 7, BYU 3 • The Cougars lost their opening game in Henderson, Nev.

Louisiana Monroe 6, BYU 5 • BYU was edged in its second game of the day at the Easton Desert Classic.

Nebraska 7, Southern Utah 0 • The Thunderbirds gave up five runs in the first inning and were shut out in their first game in the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.

Southern Utah 6, Utah State 4 • The Thunderbirds led off with a home run by Mikkel Griffin en route to their win.

Purdue 2, Utah State 1 • Pitcher Mandy Harmon struck out eight and scored the only run for the Aggies in their loss.

Salt Lake Community College 4-15, Western Nevada College 2-3 • The Bruins won both games of their doubleheader in Carson City, Nev., needing extra innings in the first game but dominating the second.

Oregon 9, Utah Valley 1 • The Wolverines lost to the No. 7-ranked Ducks in Henderson, Nev.

Utah Valley 4, San Jose State 1 • UVU bounced back for a win thanks to three home runs.

Men's tennis

BYU 5, UNLV 0 • The Cougars shut out the Rebels in Provo, improving to 8-2 with the win.

Denver 4, Utah 3 • The Utes took their first loss of the season in Salt Lake City, losing the match-deciding point at No. 4 singles.

Women's tennis

UNLV 7, Southern Utah 0 • The Thunderbirds were swept in Las Vegas, as the Rebels won in straight sets in every event except No. 3 singles.

Boise State 5, Utah State 2 • The Aggies won just two singles matches, losing to Boise State in Logan.

Swimming & diving

Utah 157, Washington State 105 • In Pullman, Wash., Utah's women's team won its third straight meet to end the regular season.

Gymnastics

BYU finished third in Oklahoma City with a score of 194.175, behind Oklahoma and Boise State and ahead of Texas Woman's University.

Utah State placed second in a meet with San Jose State and Brown University in San Jose, Calif., with a score of 193.225.

Southern Utah beat Sacramento State with a score of 195.250 in Cedar City.

Women's lacrosse

Westminster 16, Western Washington 6 • The Griffins won their season opener in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Minnesota 11, Westminster 8 • Westminster lost its second game of the day at the Santa Barbara Shootout.

Men's volleyball

Pepperdine 3, BYU 2 • The Cougars lost to the No. 5-ranked Waves in Malibu, Calif.
