Daytona, Fla. • Salt Lake-based Miller Racing finished 10th in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series over the weekend at the Daytona International Speedway.
Co-driven by principal owner Roger Miller and Ian James, their Dempsey Racing-prepared Mustang qualified 25th in the 34-car field.
In the 2 1/2-hour race, Miller quickly gained four positions before the first caution flag. After handing off to James, the Miller Racing car moved up to fourth place on Lap 39 of the 63-lap event.
A pit stop and braking problems caused the Miller Racing Mustang to drop back to 13th before a late rally netted the team a top-10 finish.
"As we’ve come to expect," said Miller, "the Dempsey Racing crew delivered a great car, we had a great strategy and Ian performed a miracle bringing the car home with braking issues.
"I’m very pleased with the result and am more optimistic now than ever before about the rest of the season. It was great to get a top-10 finish."
The next race for Miller Racing will be Feb. 28 — March 2 at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
