Utah's Josiah Purss won the men's 3-meter title at the Air Force Diving Invitational on Friday, highlighting a successful day for the Ute divers in Air Force Academy, Colo.

Purss won with a score of 363.90 points. Three other Utes placed in the top five: Nelson Foo in third (317.25), Caleb Herrick (314.10) and Brandon Stoppelmoor (312.75). BYU's Nicholas Suder took sixth place and teammate David Corless was seventh.

Utah's Kersten Merry took second place in the women's 1-meter with 278.75 points and finished third in the platform with 225.50.

Softball

Salt Lake Community College • SLCC dropped two of three season-opening games at the Southern Nevada Kickoff in Henderson, Nev. The Bruins lost to Yavapai 6-5, defeated Arizona Western 7-4 and fell to Eastern Arizona 9-6.

Malia Campos went 7-for-11 with two triples over the three games, and Whitney Holt hit a three-run homer in SLCC's third game.

Baseball

Yavapai 11, SLCC 2 • J.C. Snyder went 3-for-3 with two doubles for the Bruins, which took an early 2-0 lead but wouldn't score again in their season opener at the Coyote Border Battle in Henderson, Nev.

Men's tennis

UNLV 5, Utah State 2 • Sven Poslusny won at No. 1 singles for the Aggies, but the host Rebels swept the doubles matches and took four the other five singles matches to clinch the team victory.

Poslusny beat Tamas Batyi 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8), and Curran Wearmouth beat Bernard Schoeman 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 5 singles.
