Logan • Utah State had to sweat out a 66-60 win against San Jose State on Friday night.

Even though the Aggies were at home. Even though the Spartans were playing without their leading scorer.

It was a close shave for Utah State, which had its highest fan turnout of the year. Preston Medlin didn't disappoint, scoring a season-high 25 points for the Aggies. It was his late free throws that helped pull the team out of tight spots caused by its own turnovers.

The Aggies led by as much as nine, but San Jose stubbornly stuck close behind, despite playing without leading scorer James Kinney. DJ Brown led the Spartans' effort with 16 points.

Jarred Shaw was also a strong contributor in the victory, scoring 12 in a double-double effort.

Utah State improved its win streak to 13 games.
