Utah State basketball: Quincy Bair leaves the Aggies

Forward Quincy Bair has left the Utah State basketball team, becoming the second freshman to depart from the Aggies this season.

Bair confirmed his departure Wednesday night to The Salt Lake Tribune via text message.

Although he declined to elaborate on his reasoning, Bair said it had nothing to do with the team.

"I wish them the best of luck," he added.

The team is planning to send out a release on Bair's departure Thursday morning.

The 6-foot-5 wing player was originally planning to redshirt this season, but appeared in four games for a total of 10 minutes after junior Danny Berger had to sit out due to health issues. He had not yet scored his first point as an Aggie.

Bair joined Utah State this year along with his American Fork High teammate Marcel Davis and Montana native Riley Bradshaw.

However, while Davis has ascended to a starting role at point guard, Bradshaw and Bair have now left. Bradshaw left the team after the first exhibition game.

The Aggies now face a precarious depth issue at the wing positions. With Bair and Bradshaw gone and Berger and Sean Harris out for the foreseeable future, that leaves Preston Medlin, Spencer Butterfield and Marvin Jean spread across the 2 and 3 spots.

Coach Stew Morrill has said in the past that TeNale Roland may play some at shooting guard, but he is also the sole backup at point guard to Davis. Kyisean Reed has played some minutes at the small forward spot, but is generally the starting 4 man.

Utah State also has 6-foot-7 Quinn Taylor on the roster, who is now redshirting before an LDS Church mission.
