Las Vegas • Reigning world bareback champion Kaycee Feild of Payson, Utah, shared first place in Round 2 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Feild finished with a score of 86.5 points to tie Will Lowe of Canyon, Texas.

Feild earned $16,343 and, after a fourth-place finish in the opening round, took the lead in the NFR average standings.

Another Utahn, Caleb Bennet of Morgan, posted a score of 74 and did not place in the second round of the bareback competition.

In saddle bronc riding, Jake Wright of Milford finished in a three-way tie for first place. Cort Scheer of Elsmere, Neb., and Wade Sundell of Boxholm, Iowa, also scored an 84.5. They all earned $14,527.

Cody Wright, a two-time world champion from Milford, just missed a top-six finish with an 82. Jesse Wright, also from Milford, did not post a score.

In steer wrestling, Tom Lewis of Lehi tied Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos, Calif., for fifth place with a time of 4.2 seconds. Lewis earned $3,828 and took over fourth place in the average.

Three other Utah qualifiers struggled.

Kelli Tolbert of Hooper placed 12th in barrel racing with a time of 19.92 seconds. She was second in the opening round.

Veteran Clint Robinson, appearing in his fourth NFR, did not post a time in the tie-down roping.

In bull riding, Tag Elliott of Hatcher did not complete his eight-second round.
