The University of Utah women's basketball team jumped out to a big lead early and cruised to a 73-47 win over Weber State on Saturday at Dee Events Center in Ogden.

Michelle Plouffe had a team-high 18 points with nine rebounds, Taryn Wicijowski scored 16 points, and Paige Crozon added 10 for the Utes (5-0), who led 22-2 after 10 minutes.

Jalen Carpenter had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (0-5).

Washington State 67, BYU 52 • In Pullman, Wash., Lexi Eaton led BYU (3-3) with 13 points in the loss, and Morgan Bailey came off the bench to add 12.

Southern Utah 76, New Orleans 47 • In Lubbock, Texas, Tayler Anderson and Sofia Hepworth scored 10 points each to lead the Thunderbirds (2-2) to the win.

Westminster 65, College of Idaho 39 • In Caldwell, Idaho, the hot-shooting Griffins went on a 25-3 run during the first half and claimed the championship at the Lady Yote Classic.

Cydney Tibbitts led Westminster with 14 points, Nicole Yazzie and Kelsi Wells scored 13 each, and Amy Krommenhoek added 10. The Griffins (6-1) connected on 9 of 16 3-point attempts.

Northwest College 60, Salt Lake Community College 59 • Rachel Morris led the Bruins with 13 points in the losing effort.

Men's basketball

Westminster 94, Chadron State 69 • Jake Orchard scored 18 points to lead the host Griffins (8-1) to victory in the final of the Westminster Thanksgiving Classic.

Blake Skidmore scored 14 points, and Alex Drecksel 10 as Westminster won its fourth straight game.
