Rimando, 33, comes off another outstanding season for RSL. He finished with a record of 16-11-4, including 12 shutouts, giving him 99 in his career.

Rimando allowed only one goal in Real Salt Lake’s final four games across all competitions. He made nine of 10 saves in a two-game playoff series against Seattle.

Rimando is one of three goalkeepers on the U.S. national team, along with Everton’s Tim Howard and the Chicago Fire’s Sean Johnson. Rimando, Johnson and Chivas USA striker Juan Agudelo are the only three players from Major League Soccer on the squad.

Rimando and the rest of the U.S. team will take on Russia at Kuban Stadium in Krasnodar at 8 a.m. MST on Wednesday. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3 and Univision Deportes.
