The BYU women's basketball team routed Weber State in Provo, capitalizing on 27 WSU turnovers for an 80-55 win. Lexi Eaton had a game-high 24 points for BYU, while Regina Okoye led Weber State with 14 points. The Cougars were 7-of-18 for 3-pointers.

Boise State 80, Utah Valley 63 • The Wolverines lost their first game of the season in Orem after they were unable to climb back from a 43-28 halftime deficit. Sammie Jensen led UVU with 15 points and 14 rebounds, but the Broncos outshot the Wolverines 47.1 percent to 34.3 percent.

Westminster 55, Biola 45 • Both teams struggled on offense, but the Griffins managed their first win of the season in Salt Lake City. Nicole Yazzie had a career-high 28 points, but Westminster shot only 35.7 percent overall.

Salt Lake Community College 72, Pima Community College 55 • In Salt Lake City, the Bruins won their third straight game, with the help of freshman Katie Richens, who put up 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Rachel Morris had a game-high 17 points for SLCC.

Men's basketball

Westminster 77, Vanguard 56 • The Griffins moved to 4-0 with a win in Las Vegas, and held their opponent to 36 points below their season average. Jake Orchard led Westminster with 18 points.

IUPUI 67, Utah Valley 54 • The Wolverines were unable to rally past a 12-point halftime deficit, losing their season opener in Indianapolis. Ben Aird led UVU with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Salt Lake Community College 110, Tohono O'Odham Community College 80 • Five Bruins scored in double digits to lift SLCC to a win in Topawa, Ariz. Sophomore Sai Tummala led with 18 points and went 3-of-3 for 3-pointers.

Dixie State 71, University of California, San Diego 67 • The Red Storm nabbed a close win in St. George to start their season 1-0. Dalton Groskreutz led Dixie State with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Women's volleyball

USC 3, Utah 1 • The Utes lost at home in four sets (25-22, 15-25, 25-16, 25-23) in their Pac-12 match. Sophomore Shelby Dalton had 12 kills and no errors to lead the Utes, who outhit the Trojans .289 to .264.

Carroll College 3, Westminster 2 • The Saints beat the Griffins in Butte, Mont., 25-23, 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12. Ashley Marchant and Alexis Aalona each had 12 kills, and had 31 and 21 digs, respectively.

Southern Utah 3, Montana State 1 • The Thunderbirds won in Bozeman, Mont., 25-29, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21. Anna Burgess led SUU with 17 digs, and Analaine Mailoto notched a game-high 19 kills.

Cross-country

Utah's women's team took sixth place at the NCAA Mountain Regional meet in Fort Collins, Colo., led by senior Amanda Mergaert, who placed fourth.

BYU's men's team finished second at the meet, with junior Jared Ward taking third overall.

For Southern Utah's men's team, Nate Jewkes finished eighth. Jamie Smith led the Thunderbirds' women's team with an 11th-place finish.

Women's tennis

Utah's doubles pair of Paige Miles and Tereza Bekerova lost to a pair from Penn in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y.

The rest of the women's tennis team went undefeated in doubles in San Diego. Juniors Callie Craig and Sarah Pham beat a Washington pair, and junior Elena Najera-Salas and sophomore Natasha Smith beat a Kansas duo.
