The Dixie State football team lost 23-21 Saturday in St. George on an Azusa Pacific 24-yard field goal with 11 seconds left. Dixie quarterback Griff Robles rushed for 94 yards, but the Cougars intercepted him four times. Robles ended the game 19-of-37 for 205 total yards and two touchdowns.

Mitch Frei and Randon Willard took in the Red Storm's two receiving touchdowns, and Brock Johnson rushed for another.

Snow College 45, Phoenix College 0 • The Badgers shut out the Bears in Phoenix to stay undefeated in Western States Football League.

Snow's Damond Powell had six receptions for 226 yards, helping him break the 1,000-yard career mark.

Snow held Phoenix to only 85 yards of total offense.

Women's volleyball

BYU 3, Loyola Marymout 0 • The Cougars won in straight sets (26-24, 28-26, 25-13) in Provo to remain undefeated at home. Alexa Gray led No. 17 BYU 16 kills, and Heather Hannemann had 35 assists to help the Cougars to 23-2 overall and 11-2 in West Coast Conference play.

BYU put two close sets behind it for the match-winning third set with its blocking game sparking a run that set the Cougars up 12-9.

Montana State 3, Weber State 2 • The Wildcats fell to a rally from the Bobcats, who won 22-25, 25-15, 18-25, 25-19, 15-8 in Ogden. Montana State outhit Weber State .268 to .162, and junior Briana Wilms led the Wildcats with 12 kills and five blocks. Laurel Bodily had a match-high 13 digs.

Westminster 3, Montana Tech 1 • After a close first three sets, the Griffins closed out a Frontier conference match with a 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14 win in Salt Lake City. Alexis Aalona led with 17 kills, while Kyndall Kordakis had 28 digs. Westminster improved to 14-12, 7-8 Frontier.

Eastern Washington 3, Southern Utah 0 • The Thunderbirds lost their Big Sky Conference match in straight sets (16-25, 12-25, 27-29) in Cedar City. SUU led 24-21 in the final frame but eventually lost on back-to-back kills from the Eagles. Analaine Mailoto led SUU with 12 kills.

Women's basketball

Utah Valley 71, Adams State 55 • The Wolverines won their exhibition in Orem, led by senior Sammie Jensen with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. UVU outshot Adams State 42.6 percent to 36.0 percent.

Just three minutes into its last exhibition before starting the regular season, Utah Valley started a 15-0 run that put it up 21-7. In the third quarter, the Wolverines led Adams State, a Division II school, by as much as 18 points.

Weber State 78, Concordia 48 • The Wildcats routed the Cavaliers in their exhibition in Ogden, with Carlee Lough leading the way with 14 points and two assists. Weber State outshot Concordia 41.9 percent to 26.4 percent in the Wildcats' first game of the season.

Kalie Matthews and Laura Palmere joined Lough in double-digit scoring, and Desiree Ramos added nine points, all of which came from 3-pointers.

SLCC 41, Casper Community College 39 • The Bruins got their first win of the season by holding off the Thunderbirds in Casper, Wyo. Sophomore Katie Richens led SLCC with 14 points.

After ending the first half with a one-point deficit, Salt Lake Community College held Casper to just 18 points in the second half won the rebound battle 30-23.

Men's basketball

Westminster 95, Western State 53 • The Griffins routed the Mountaineers in Salt Lake City to extend their early-season winning streak to three. Westminster made 17 3-pointers, which fell one short of tying a school record.

The Griffins had more 3-pointers than 2-point shots, and held Western State, a Division II team, to 38.3 percent shooting.

Women's soccer

BYU 2, Pepperdine 0 • The No. 4-ranked Cougars recorded their 10th shutout of the year with a win over the Waves in Malibu, Calif. Chloe Colohan, who had six of BYU's 14 shots, and Carlee Payne Holmoe scored.

The game was the regular-season finale for BYU (18-1-1, 7-0-1 WCC).

BYU goalkeeper Erica Owens and Pepperdine goalie Roxanne Barker each had four saves.

Azusa Pacific 3, Dixie State 0 • The Cougars shut out the Red Storm in Azusa, Calif. Dixie's Jennifer Mason had four shots, including one on goal, but none of them hit the target.

Dixie goalkeeper Abby Johson made eight saves, but Azusa Pacific outshot the Red Storm 27-7.

Women's tennis

Two of Utah's doubles pairs finished the second day of the UNM Fall Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Junior Paige Miles and sophomore Tereza Bekerova beat a New Mexico pair 8-6 and then beat a South Carolina duo 9-8.

Utah junior Lucia Kovarcikova and sophomore Natasha Smith lost to a South Carolina doubles pair 8-2 but then beat a Texas El Paso team 8-2 in consolation play.
