The Utes are making a notable switch for the Cal game, moving passing game coordinator Aaron Roderick up to the press box and putting offensive coordinator Brian Johnson on the field. According to Utah officals, the move was made so Johnson could work more closely with the quarterbacks and he will still call the plays. The last time the Utes made a similar move was in 2009 when Roderick replaced Dave Schramm in the press box and called the last six games. The Utes averaged 32.2 points in those games after averaging 27.9 points in the previous games. Whatever the official line is, such a move is notable, especially since Utah's offense is struggling so much with receiver DeVonte Christopher saying this week all the coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball in recent years was a factor in Utah's offensive struggles. The Utes are averaging just 20.14 points a game to rank 105th nationally. Could a change in coaching positions be disruptive or will it help freshman quarterback Travis Wilson?
