Sandy • Real Salt Lake and Herediano fought to a 0-0 standoff in Tuesday night's CONCACAF Champions League game at Rio Tinto Stadium.

With a sell-out crowd of 20,000 fans watching, Real Salt Lake was trying to stay alive in the Champions League.

After a controversial 1-0 loss to Herediano in Costa Rica on July 31, RSL needed to win by a specific margin — 1-0 or by at least two goals — to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals in February.

Real Salt Lake couldn't score, however, despite an 18-6 advantage in attempted shots.
