Women's soccer • Abby Wambach and Germany's Anja Mittag scored in the first half Saturday night in Bridgeview, Ill., and the U.S. women had to settle for a 1-1 tie in their first game without former coach Pia Sundhage.

The draw in the matchup between the world's top two teams snapped a 14-game winning streak for the U.S. Six of those victories came at the London Olympics.

Reigning U.S. champion takes lead in women's short program

Figure Skating • Ashley Wagner delivered a clean performance in the short program to grab the lead at Skate America on Saturday in Kent, Wash.

The defending U.S. champion, who scored 60.61 points, is trying to build on her breakthrough season last year. She placed fourth last year at the world championships, the best for a U.S. woman since 2007.
