Brussels • A Belgian soccer player drove his speeding Porsche through the glass doors of a gas station convenience store, injuring a customer at the cash register.

Security video taken early Sunday shows Jonathan Legear's car crashing in the eastern town of Tongeren. The luxury sports car plowed through several stalls of food and drinks before stopping, forcing customer Jeffrey Dewallef to jump out of the way.

''Injuries are mostly scrapes, but I also have a badly twisted ankle," Dewallef told a local television station.

Legear will be charged with involuntary assault and possibly intoxication. Legear, 25, will be banned from driving for at least two weeks and could spend time in jail, Zegers added.

The store's owner estimated the damage at $325,000. Legear apologized to all who ''have been directly or indirectly affected by what happened."

''I will accept the consequences of the accident according to the law," he said in a statement through his lawyer. He denied he was severely drunk, as some reports said.

The security video showed the Porsche bolting past the pumps and smashing a scooter before bursting through the doors. Inside, most customers were able to get out of way, but Dewallef was paying at the register and had to confront a car coming toward him.

Legear plays for the Russian club Terek Grozny after moving from the Belgian club Anderlecht the last year. He made two appearances for Belgium in 2010. Zegers said there is no reason to prevent Legear from rejoining Grozny "as long as he does not drive there himself."
