AUTO RACING • The IndyCar Series will return to Pocono Raceway in 2013 and host doubleheader weekends at Detroit, Toronto and new venue Houston for a 19-race schedule.

Next year's schedule was unveiled Sunday.

The July 7 race at Pocono will be a 400-miler and be included in a Triple Crown challenge by IndyCar. A $1 million bonus will go to the driver who can win the Indianapolis 500, Pocono and the Oct. 19 finale at Fontana. A $250,000 bonus will be awarded if a driver wins two of the three Triple Crown events.

The season opens March 24 at St. Petersburg, and returns to 14 of the 15 venues it visited in 2012. Off the schedule is Edmonton, and Pocono and Houston are the new additions.

Pocono Raceway, in Long Pond, Pa., last hosted an IndyCar race in 1989.

Gasquet claims Bangkok crown

tennis • In Bangkok, second-seeded Richard Gasquet won his first tournament of the year when he beat Gilles Simon 6-2, 6-1 in an all-French final. The 14th-ranked Gasquet routed the 2009 champion in 68 minutes for his seventh career victory.

• In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Juan Monaco of Argentina beat Julien Benneteau of France 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to win the Malaysian Open, his fourth title this season. The 11th-ranked Monaco needed just over three hours to edge out Benneteau in the tournament's longest match this year for his first hard-court title.

American Altidore extends hot streak

soccer • American forward Jozy Altidore raised his Dutch league-leading goals total to eight, scoring in the 24th minute for AZ Alkmaar in a 3-3 tie against Waalwijk in Amsterdam. Altidore has nine goals in nine games this season, including a score in the Dutch Cup. He also made the pass for midfielder Adam Maher to tie the score for AZ in the 86th minute, which extended its home unbeaten streak to 26 matches.

• In Barcelona, Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first hat trick of the season, leading Real Madrid to a 5-1 home win over Deportivo La Coruna as the defending champions strung together back-to-back La Liga victories for the first time this season.
