Real Salt Lake: Four RSL players tabbed for international duty

Four Real Salt Lake players — Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando (USA), Alvaro Saborío (Costa Rica) and Will Johnson (Canada) — have been called by their respective national teams for international duty for the Wednesday FIFA date.

However, the quartet is not expected to miss any RSL matches.

Beckerman and Rimando received call-ups from U.S. national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann for the nation's friendly against rival Mexico at the famed Estadio Azteca on Wednesday in Mexico City.

Beckerman, RSL's captain, has appeared 21 times for the U.S. and has scored once in international play. The 30-year-old midfielder was called in to the last U.S. camp, making three substitute appearances — including one in a World Cup qualifier — for the U.S. during its five-game stretch in May and June.

Rimando has six caps for the U.S. team. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is in his sixth season with RSL and recently passed retired goalie Zach Thornton to move into second-place on the MLS career wins list.

Saborío, 30, will look to earn his 71st cap for Costa Rica when it hosts Peru in an international friendly on Wednesday at San Jose's Estadio Nacional — the same stadium where RSL lost its CONCACAF Champions League opener to C.S. Herediano last month.

Canada has called in Johnson for its Wednesday game against CONCACAF foe Trinidad and Tobago in Lauderhill, Fla.
