Foxborough, Mass • Teal Bunbury scored in the 20th minute to give Sporting KC a 1-0 victory Saturday over New England at Gillette Stadium.

Sporting KC (11-8-4) snapped a three-match (0-2-1) winless streak and clinched the three-match season series against New England with two wins and a tie.

United 1, Crew 0 • Chris Pontius scored four minutes after halftime to lift D.C. United to a 1-0 win over Columbus in Washington and give United its seventh straight home victory.

Pontius' team-leading 10th goal pushed United (11-7-3) one win short of tying the club record of eight straight home wins, set in 1998. Three of those victories came via the league's shootout format, which was eliminated after the 1999 season.

Impact 2, Union 0 • Andrew Wenger headed in a goal just before halftime and Felipe Martins added another for Montreal in a 2-0 victory over Philadelphia at Saputo Stadium in Montreal.

The Impact (9-13-3), who are 8-3-2 at home, opened a seven-point lead on eighth-place Philadelphia (7-11-2) in the Eastern Conference, although the Union hold five games in hand.

Fire 2, Toronto FC 1 • Austin Berry and Marco Pappa scored to rally Chicago to a 2-1 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night in Bridgeview, Ill.

Berry headed Pavel Pardo's free kick over Toronto goalkeeper Milos Kocic from 10 yards out in the 84th minute to give the Fire the lead. —
