Alvaro Saborio scored three goals in 15 minutes Saturday. Two days later, he earned his third MLS Player of the Week honor in RSL colors.
The forward, who is the team’s first player to win the honor this season, provided all of Real Salt Lake’s scoring in a dominant 3-0 victory over the Portland Timbers. His first, a header across the face of the goal, broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 60th minute at Rio Tinto Stadium. He followed that two minutes later with a shot from 10 yards out, and completed the hat trick with a 75th-minute penalty kick.

Saborio now has three multiple-goal games this season and ranks third in MLS Golden Boot standings with 10 goals in 20 games. His performance, the third hat trick in club history, also gave him RSL’s all-time goal-scoring lead with 33 career regular season goals in 70 games.
