They say Omaha loves underdogs. If that's true, the city must be head over heels this year.
The College World Series starts today at 3 p.m. on ESPN2/ESPN3 with a matchup between Stony Brook and UCLA. The Seawolves knocked out host schools Miami and LSU en route to Omaha, becoming the first No. 4 seed to make the field of eight since 1999. They are also the first team out of the America East conference to make the CWS. With a .335 average, Stony Brook is the second-best hitting team in the country. Fans hope that's enough to get it past the Bruins, who are in the tournament for the second time in three years.
Stick with the same channel if you're in the mood for more collegiate baseball: Arizona and Florida State follow with a 7 p.m. first pitch.
If pro ball is more your style, the Rockies visit the Tigers at 5 p.m. on ROOT. If you have the MLB Network, you can check out Bryce Harper and the Nationals take on the Yankees in a 5 p.m. matchup of division leaders.
