West Valley City • The Utah Grizzlies open the 2012-13 ECHL season on Oct. 12 at Idaho, the league announced Wednesday.

The Grizzlies' home opener will be a rematch against the Steelheads on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Maverik Center.

Forty of Utah's 72 regular-season games are against Mountain Division rivals Alaska, Idaho and Colorado. The Grizzlies play 14 games against Alaska and 13 against Idaho and Colorado.

Utah plays 14 of its first 23 games on the road, including three of the first four.

After a four-game trip to Alaska in early December, however, the Grizzlies play six of seven at home between Dec. 14-31.

On New Year's Eve, Utah plays Stockton starting at 6:05 p.m.

The Grizzlies entertain Idaho on Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 21), starting at 1:35 p.m. Their other holiday matinee is President's Day (Feb. 18) against Alaska.

The Grizzlies play 24 of their 36 home games on Friday or Saturday night.

There are two Sunday games on the home schedule — Feb. 10 against Idaho and March 10 against Colorado. Both start at 4:05 p.m.

Utah plays the expansion San Francisco Bulls seven times. The Grizzlies visit the Cow Palace for four games on Nov. 17-18 and March 16-17. San Francisco's first games in Utah are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The Grizzlies' only game against an Eastern Conference opponent is March 6, when Gwinnett visits the Maverik Center.

Ticket packages for the upcoming season are on sale at the Maverik Center or by calling 801-988-7825. —
