Cedar City — Two players from Texas have signed national letters of intent with Southern Utah, new men's basketball coach Nick Robinson has announced. Guards Drake Thomas and Zach Ghormley, who played at Grace Prep Academy in Arlington, will join the Thunderbirds for the 2012-13 season. Thomas, a six-foot point guard, averaged 5.7 points and 7.3 assists as a senior. Ghormley, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, averaged 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. Grace Prep finished 27-4 last season. "We are excited to welcome Drake and Zach to the Thunderbird family," said Robinson. "Both come from a championship program. ... [They] are high-character individuals who come from strong families. "Drake is a true point guard with tremendous leadership qualities. Zach is as competitive as they come at both ends of the floor. Zach and Drake will help us make the transition into the Big Sky Conference." Southern Utah moves from the Summit League to the Big Sky on July 1.
