The spring signing period for basketball — men's and women's — is a week old, but Southern Utah and Utah Valley University recently announced signings to their respective women's basketball programs, in case you missed them. Southern Utah has added three more players, including two Utahns. The Thunderbirds have signed Cyprus High's Lori Parkinson, Salt Lake Community College's Marissa Robbins (from Stansbury High) and Sofia Hepworth of St. Anthony, Idaho. Parkinson, a 6-1 forward, was a Tribune first-team pick last season after averaging 14.6 rebounds and six blocks per game. Robbins, a 5-11 forward, averaged 10.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for SLCC last season. She was an honorable mention all-state performer while at Stansbury. Hepworth is a 5-6 guard who also played at SLCC this past season, leading the Bruins in scoring at nearly 15 ppg. Forward Basia Klein signed with SUU last fall. ———— Utah Valley announced earlier this week that it has signed Georgia Agnew, a 5-9 point guard from New Zealand by way of Salem Hills High in Utah, and Karlee Kartchner of Hyrum's Mountain Crest High, to national letters of intent. Agnew averaged 10 points and more than five assists per game at Salem Hills while registering a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Kartchner is a 6-foot forward and the Class 4A MVP after averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Mustangs. She also has a 4.0 GPA.
