RSL hoping injured midfielders won't be out as long as it feared

Midfielders Javier Morales and Ned Grabavoy might not be injured as badly as RSL originally feared.Team spokesman Trey Fitz-Gerald said that after examinations today from team doctors — including ultrasounds — both players appear poised for a relatively quick recovery from the injuries they suffered in a 1-0 home victory over Montreal on Wednesday night.Morales hurt his right hamstring, but might be out only three to four weeks, rather than perhaps twice that long, Fitz-Gerald said. And Grabavoy did not break a rib as originally feared, but rather dislocated one, and did not suffer any ruptured internal organs; that means basically that he will be sore for awhile, but probably can return to action as soon as he's able to tolerate the pain.Which could be, like … yesterday, given the way he played the final 15 minutes or so after suffering it.Pain tolerance evidently is not a problem with this guy.In a related move, RSL asked US Soccer to release 18-year-old midfielder Luis Gil from his call into U-20 national team camp next week. The federation complied, since RSL figures to be short on experienced midfielders, and Gil is expected to be available for the trip to Kansas City on April 14.
