The season didn't end nearly as promising as it began for Utah's gymnastics team. The Utes, who fell to Florida 197.9-196.475 here Friday in Gainesville, looked like a team whose confidence was shaken even before the meet started. As senior Stephanie McAllister said, the Utes competed like their confidence was shaken too. "I don't know why that is," she said. "We worked on all the mental stuff all week but it is something in our heads. We weren't confident and it showed." Even Utah coach Greg Marsden said his team hasn't changed much since the season opening loss to UCLA. If there has been a change, it is for the worse, given Utah's sudden lack of confidence. "It's disappointing because this is a talented group and they work hard and they are a fun group to work with," he said. Can the Utes get things turned around before the Pac-12 Championships? No one is promising they can, but they are going to try, the Utes said. "We aren't going to give up on this year," McAllister said.
