Frankfort, Ky.• The Westminster women’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship on Wednesday, beating Belhaven 75-49 at the Frankfort Convention Center.
The fourth-seeded Griffins (23-8) put the defensive clamps on No. 5 seed Blazers (26-7), holding them to 33 percent shooting. Regena Jackson, the leading scorer in NAIA, managed just 15 points.

Meanwhile, Cydney Tibbitts and Nicole Yazzie led the way for Westminster with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Tibbits also had 12 rebounds.
Westminster meets top-seeded Oklahoma City on Friday at 8:45 a.m. (MT), which advanced with a 91-73 win over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas). It is the first ever meeting between the two schools.
