Cedar City • Southern Utah University’s baseball and softball teams will host games this week.
The Thunderbird baseball team will play its first home games of the season after going 2-9 to open the season on the road. SUU meets 2-8 Utah Valley in a doubleheader that begins Friday at noon. SUU took four of the six meetings between the two schools last year.

In softball, SUU opens its 2012 Summit League slate by hosting Oakland University in a doubleheader at noon Friday at a single game at noon Saturday. The Thunderbirds have won six of their last seven games with Tessa Loewen leading the way with a .522 average. Oakland is 1-9 on the season.
