USU Hoops: Coaches want Medlin to take the next step
As a sophomore, Preston Medlin has largely kept to himself when it comes to leadership.
Stew Morrill wants that to change.
Medlin is Utah State's best player, its most reliable offensive weapon and a big reason the Aggies have at least a fleeting hope of making noise next week in the WAC Tournament.
With scoring, and with offensive prowress comes responsibility. At least in Morrill's eyes.
"I don't know if he knows how much we will lean on him in the next two years for his leadership," Morrill said. "He's got to start doing some of that now."
Medlin has been vocal. He certainly voices his pleasure with each made shot, which is his natural emotion. But Morrill wants him cajoling his teammates, being vocal in that capacity and taking more and more responsibility as the year winds down.
