The Utes host Colorado at 3 p.m. today at the Huntsman Center. With just five regular season games remaining, time is running out on this wild and discouraging season.
Real quick on Colorado: We had a story today on Colorado's surprising run through the Pac-12, which I (very) wrongly predicted last month would sputter long before now.
Today, though, marks something that coach Larry Krystkowiak becomes tradition in the program. The Utes have invited back all former players to participate in an alumni weekend that included a Friday night social. Former players who were expected to participate in an at least one event included Troy Brazell, Sayre Brennan, Keith Chapman, Charlie Whiting, Fred Wheeler, Danny Vranes, John Allen, Tyrone Medley, Kurt Wilkinson and Arnie Ferrin (who was inducted into the Pac-12 hall of fame last week).
The 1976-77 team that won the WAC championship will be honored at halftime.
Krystkowiak said this week he thinks its important to recognize the program's history.
"Sometimes you get caught talking always about the future and what we're trying to build," he said. "It's easy, I think for folks to forget about just what has already been built here and what existed here at one point. There's going to be an awful lot of guys here over the course of the weekend, there is an awful lot of blood sweat and tears that those guys have laid on the line for the school."
