Provo • The BYU gymnastics team fell to 1-3 this season with a 195.750-194.750 loss at Smith Fieldhouse to No. 16 Boise State.

The Broncos scored a 49.450 on vault, the second-best team total on the event in school history. Boise State set new team season-highs on both the vault and the beam.

BYU’s Natalie Eyre-Pickard won the bars with a 9.875. Krysten Koval tied for the balance-beam title with a 9.9, along with Boise State’s Amy Glass. The Cougars’ Raquel Willman placed second in the all-around with a 39.20.

Volleyball

No. 7 Stanford def. No. 1 BYU 35-33, 25-23, 25-22 • The top-ranked Cougars were swept by the first time this season, falling at home for the second night in a row to the Cardinal. It’s the first time BYU has lost two home matches in the same weekend since 2002.

Track and field

Bronco Classic • In Nampa, Idaho, the Utah State men’s and women’s teams won several events. Aggie women winners were: Rachel Orr, high jump (5’7"); Sam Nielson, triple jump (39’1"), Spela Hus, shot put (48’6"), Bailee Whitworth, 200m (24.32). Silas Pimentel claimed the USU men’s only win, with a 6.85 in the 60m dash.

New Balance Invitational • In New York, the BYU women finished second to Clemson, which had 93 points to the Cougars’ 64.

More than 130 schools participated at the Armory, making it the largest invitational indoor meet in the country.

BYU set the Armory and meet records in the women’s 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:37.97. Nachelle Mackie of BYU set Armory and meet records in the women’s 800 meters at 2:03.56.

Mountain States Games • Utah had two individual winners on the second day: Rosalie Griffin won the 400m (57.12) and the 4x400m relay team won in 3:45.75.

Women’s tennis

Utah State 6, Montana State 1 • In Bozeman, Mont., the Aggies improved to 2-3 to spoil the Bobcats’ home opener. Aggies won two of the three doubles matches and five of six singles matches. Singles winners were Jaci West, McKenzie Davis, Kristina Voytsekovich, Romina Nedakovic and Brianna Rowland.
