Weber State basketball: Wildcats host Northern Colorado
Now tied for the Big Sky Conference lead in the loss column, Weber State cannot afford another stumble.
The Wildcats (17-4, 9-1 Big Sky) host Northern Colorado (7-14, 4-6) at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Dee Events Center. The game is scheduled to be televised on Altitude TV.
Damian Lillard, the nation's leading scorer, burned Portland State on Thursday for 40 points as WSU defeated the Vikings 92-79.
Meanwhile, in Greeley, Colo., Sacramento State freshman Dylan Garrity scored 18 points with nine assists in a 73-62 victory against the Bears, who missed 17 free throws.
"Hopefully this game propels us in the right direction," Weber State coach Randy Rahe said following Thursday's victory. WSU was upset at Idaho State the Saturday before. "Hopefully we can get better. Maybe it will help us out a little bit, what happened the other night."
Lillard, who had 13-of-18 shooting and now averages a Division I best 25.1 points, was one point off his career high and fell just two points shy of setting a Dee Events Center record. It was the sixth time in school history a Wildcat has scored 40 or more points. Lillard is now averaging 25.1 points per game.
