Super Bowl loss haunts New England Patriots’ Tom Brady
First Published Jan 23 2012 11:44 pm • Last Updated Jan 24 2012 08:52 am

If footage of Super Bowl XLII pops on, Tom Brady doesn’t exactly throw a bag of popcorn in the microwave and kick back, eagerly reliving what happened four years ago.

The Patriots quarterback to this day has little interest in viewing the Giants’ 17-14 comeback victory, a game that continues to haunt him in a sense.

"I still can’t watch highlights of that game," Brady said Monday on his weekly radio spot on Boston’s WEEI. "I think that’s just the way it is. You get to the end, and we had a great opportunity there and really squandered it because we didn’t play our very best."

But the Patriots will get a crack at some sort of revenge when they meet the surging Giants in Indianapolis on Feb. 5 in Super Bowl XLVI.

The Patriots were also dealt a last-second 24-20 defeat in their Nov. 6 meeting in Foxborough, Mass., with the Giants, the first time they had hooked up since Eli Manning’s 13-yard pass to Plaxico Burress spoiled New England’s bid for a 19-0 season.
