Cedar City • Southern Utah University’s men’s basketball team opens its Summit League home season Thursday when league-leading South Dakota State comes to town for a 7:05 p.m. tipoff.
South Dakota State, 12-4 overall and 4-0 in league play, has won three straight and eight of its last nine games. Those wins include a 92-73 victory over Washington.

The Thunderbirds, meanwhile, are 7-7 overall and 2-2 in league play after IPFW ended their three-game winning streak Tuesday night. SUU is finishing up an eight-game road swing. Thunderbird coach Roger Reid will be looking for his 200th victory.
Jackson Stevenett leads SUU in scoring with a 13.3 average,. He also led the team in rebounding and blocks and tied for the team lead in steals at IPFW. Junior guard Nate Wolters leads South Dakota State.
