West Valley City • Forward Justin Dowling has joined the Utah Grizzlies in time for the team’s opener on Oct. 14.
Dowling joins the team from the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat, which, like the Grizzlies, is a minor league affiliate for the Calgary Flames.

Dowling comes to Utah after starting his pro career late last season with Abbotsford and posting one goal and three assists for four points in eight games. Last year, as he completed his major junior career in the WHL with Swift Current, he totaled 20 goals and 47 assists for 67 points in 63 games. During his final three seasons in the WHL, he had 211 points in 206 games on 74 goals and 137 assists.
