The PCL season may be winding down, but Salt Lake infielder Paul McAnulty continues to heat up, making a case for a contract to play somewhere next season.

For the second time in less than a month and the seventh time in his career, McAnulty swatted a pair of home runs in a game, including a high arcing rainbow of a shot that nearly scraped the yellow paint on the right field fencing.

McAnulty's three-RBI night wasn't nearly enough as the Bees (61-79), in a nightmare finale, dropped their last home game of the season, 17-7, to Colorado Springs (63-77).

"You want to finish strong," McAnulty said. "You'll have a better taste in your mouth. You just want to leave it all on the field."

McAnulty, age 30, who went deep twice Aug. 8, increased his home run total to 17 on the season. He's also batting .333 during the previous 13 games with 10 runs batted in.

"You can't think about [playing for a contract]," McAnulty said. "If you think about that you put too much pressure on yourself."

Moving up • Efren Navarro, the PCL's top-fielding first baseman, and outfielder Jeremy Moore, who tied the Salt Lake franchise record with 18 triples, joined right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood, left-handed pitcher Horacio Ramirez and infielder Andrew Romine were called up by the Los Angeles Angels. Navarro and Moore will be making their major league debuts.

Navarro, 25, had appeared in 133 games for the Bees and ranked second in hitting (.317), hits (156), doubles (36), triples (6), runs scored (76) and RBIs (73). Moore, 24, played in 113 games for the Bees in 2011, hitting .298 with 24 doubles, 18 triples, 15 home runs, 66 RBI and 21 stolen bases.
