Elmhurst, Illinois • Southern Utah goalkeeper Charly Booth earned her second career Defensive Player of the Week award after her solid play helped the Thunderbirds go 1-0-1 in Flagstaff for a share of the Mortenson Mountain Classic championship.
The Bountiful, Utah native collected three saves in a 2-1 victory over Northern Iowa, one of which came in the final seconds to help preserve the victory for SUU. Booth added four more saves in a draw against Drake to up her total to seven for the week. She also recorded her first career assist after placing a long punt over the Bulldog defense that teammate Missy Lazcano was able to control and put in the back of the net.
The junior keeper has been solid between the pipes for Southern Utah all year, posting a .737 save percentage. Booth currently holds a 1.18 goals against average while playing all 380:00 minutes for the Thunderbirds this season.
The Thunderbirds will visit California this week as they play back-to-back road contests starting with a match Friday at CSU Bakersfield which will be followed by game with UC Riverside on Sunday.
