Just days after announcing the hiring of former Utah women's basketball coach Elaine Elliott as an assistant to new coach Shelly Jarrard, the Westminster Griffins said Wednesday that Amy Krommenhoek will transfer from the Utes and has signed a letter of intent.
Krommenhoek is the sister of former Utah All-American Julie Krommenhoek.
"We are very excited to have Amy become a part of Westminster basketball," Jarrard said in a statement. "She is a quality person and a skilled player who will fit well with our team. She is an excellent shooter who can stretch defenses, and someone who we believe can do great things immediately for our program."
Krommenhoek is the first recruit to sign at Westminster since Jarrard - a former longtime assistant under Elliott with the Utes - took over its program June 7.
She will join the Griffins after a redshirt season with the Utes last year.
Krommenhoek was a three-year all-state player at American Fork High School, where she lead her team to the Class 5-A state championship as a senior in 2009. She averaged about 12 points per game that season with 47 three-pointers.
The Griffins are coming off a 28-7 season, in which they advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA national championships for the first time in school history after winning their third straight Frontier Conference championship.
