The Utah Blaze have signed of defensive lineman Jeramie Richardson (6-1, 265, Angelo State) and defensive back Josh Jones (5-10, 190, Harding) to the 2011 roster.
Richardson is 6-foot-1, 265-pounder from Angelo State, while Jones is a 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from Harding.
"These two late-season additions will hopefully enable our team to end the 2011 campaign on a high note," said Head Coach Ron James. "Richardson is a fine pass rusher with a great motor that will be a great addition to our defensive line. "
Richardson most recently played with the West Texas Roughnecks of the IFL where he was a key component of their defensive unit that led the league in points allowed per game (27.9) and total yards allowed per game (123.0). He participated in 14 games (including the postseason) and tallied 42.0 total tackles, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and one pass breakup, earning All-IFL second team honors.
Jones, another IFL product, played in 14 games (including the postseason) with the Green Bay Blizzard where he notched 73.0 total tackles, six interceptions (two for TDs), three pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Collegiately at Harding University, Jones became only the fifth Bison in program history to earn All-America honors from the Associated Press when he was named to the AP Little All-America First Team as a senior. He led the team with 94.0 tackles and eight interceptions. He has also earned All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association and Daktronics.
