Sandy • Defender Nat Borchers was ejected with a red card not even three minutes into the game, but Real Salt Lake scored three times after going a man down to pull out a wild 3-3 draw with the New England Revolution at Rio Tinto Stadium on Monday night.

The team retired coach Jason Kreis' old No. 9 jersey after the game.

But the real fireworks occurred during the game, which featured two red cards, two penalty kicks, a flurry of controversial calls and rough plays, and the final equalizer by RSL's Fabian Espindola.

RSL fell behind 2-0, following a penalty kick awarded alongside the Borchers red card, and then a free kick by New England's Chris Tierney in the 16th minute.

But RSL's Will Johnson pulled one back in the 24th minute and Alvaro Saborio scored his own penalty kick in the 54th minute (after a disputed handball call on New England's Kevin Alston), before the Revs went ahead 3-2 on a Shalrie Joseph header in the 63rd minute.

New England's Ryan Cochrane was sent off with his second yellow card four minutes later, and Espindola struck for the equalizer in the 83rd minute off a smart pass from Saborio.
